I took both of the seats out of my MG when I first bought it to replace the rubber webbing on the underside of the frame. the rails sat on wooden slats that had about one inch diameter holes in them. These holes contained what appeared to be lead spacers through which the screws went to hold the rails to the floor. The whole business had to be assembled to the floor and loosely held by the rear screws only. I managed to get the seat under the dash, and onto the loose rails, slid them back, then got the front screws in under the seat then tighten down all four screws.
