It was a beautiful Saturday morning, the air was fresh and crisp, the birds were singing the sun was shining…and then a convoy of rumbling British cars drove by!

Does this sound familiar experience? On Saturday, July 20th, the MG Car Club members, family, and friends journeyed to Norwich, NY on the first Museum Tour and Picnic!

It was a delightful drive along the countryside to central New York State with plenty of sights to see. We traveled via Rte 96 to Rte 20 to the Northeast Classic Car Museum. Our time of arrival was delayed due to car trouble with a member car, but we arrived healthy and hungry for automotive history.

The museum had over 100 cars in their exhibits and provided us with tour guides if we choose not to self-tour. I especially liked the cars built in New York State exhibit that was displayed at the time of our visit. There were many different cars that were on loan form other collectors that helped make this exhibit special.  The British automotive market was represented by a handful of Rolls Royce’s, a Jaguar XKE.

After the museum visit, we headed over to St. Bartholomew’s Park where a pavilion was made accessible for us to picnic. The weather was perfect, the people were great, the picnic was fun, and the cars were phenomenal! Least to say, a great time had by all! The only thing I would have changed about the whole trip would have been to start earlier and stay longer!

I would like to thank all that attended and I plan on another Museum Tour/Picnic next year! Thanks, members and friends, Carl Webeck.
