Our able bodied emergency staff is willing and... willing.

What are these guys doing?

Events such as a tailgate picnic are fun.  Joan and Paul (our activity chairs) have been to tailgates many times.  They have attended ones from the Model "A's where the clothes and the set ups date to the late 20's.  They have attended tailgate picnics at horse shows, football games, the British Gathering in Stowe Vermont, and plain old traveling across the US and eating off the tailgate in places all over this country.

For this event we had 9 vehicles arrive and an antique fire truck. Actually Paul and Joan were the only true tailgaters, using a pick up truck, but their spread did not hold a candle to the others who participated. Best Pickup TruckWe had 7 actual entries.

The BEST OF PICNIC was awarded to the Langswagers with the beautiful candle chandelier and the wonderful spread of dishes with pictures of their car on each plate.  Best of PicnicFor those of you that are not aware, they had the same setup in Stowe at one time and a photo of their tailgate picnic made a national publication.

The Hess’s were very CREATIVE using car parts for their service places and vase to hold flowers.

Most Creative

Then the Hokenson’s were the COMEDIC group with a newspaper tablecloth, an empty jar of peanut butter and jelly.

Comedic

Dick Powers won for the most AUTHENTIC.  His set up was the most in keeping with the MG style car.

AuthenticWild’s took most ELEGANT with a

beautiful formal style set up.  Elegant

Dave Chase was the most COLORFUL, with a red umbrella, a blue car and something white, but I can’t remember what it was, maybe a tablecloth or blanket.

ColorfulMost MODEST was the Herschell’s with

a nice picnic basket filled with goodies.   Modest

The firemen from Honeoye Falls added to the ambience with their truck.  When they saw the cars arrive they ran their antique firetruck out of its barn to join the group.  All in all it was a great time and everyone enjoyed looking at each other’s setups.  Now for the piece d’ resistance…….

The Hess’s had a pie to share that was so tasty, and Dick Powers had a cheesecake to die for.  They shared their goodies with the group and this has inspired an event with cheesecakes and goodies of that nature.  We are not sure at this time if it will be a bake off, raffle, or something else, but we will plan something the club will enjoy.  And the best part is eating the goodies.   So don't wait for pictures on the web, the goodies will be gone before cameras come out.
